When the day demands too much, The Slow Down Kit is your invitation to disconnect. Designed to turn any heat-safe vessel you already own into a bespoke, clean-burning candle, this kit is all about creating a softer, slower atmosphere in your home.

Tailor your evening by choosing between the quiet glow of a classic cotton wick or the gentle, soothing crackle of a wooden wick. To help you truly unwind, we’ve included a relaxing, botanical essential oil blend that transforms your candle sand into a gentle aromatherapy experience.

What’s included

  • 400g Pearled Wax Candle Sand: A long-burning, paraffin-free, and self-extinguishing vegetable wax.

  • 10x Wooden Wicks (with metal holders): For a wider flame and a comforting, acoustic crackle.

  • 10x Cotton Wicks: For a classic, quiet, and clean burn.

  • 10ml 'Calm' Essential Oil Blend: A deeply relaxing and balancing mix of Bergamot, Lavender, and Ylang Ylang (Complete).

The ritual — how it works

  1. Pour: Fill a heat-resistant jar or bowl with your pearled candle sand.

  2. Scent: Add a few drops of 'Calm' directly to the cool, unlit sand to set your intention for the evening.

  3. Wick: Choose your wick style (cotton for silence, wood for a subtle crackle) and insert it, leaving approximately 5mm exposed.

  4. Light: Ignite the wick, step back, and let the day go.

  5. Refresh: Once cool, simply pull out the used wick and the small melted wax pool. Top up with fresh sand, insert a new wick, and your vessel is ready for your next quiet moment.

Adding scent

The sand arrives unscented by design — though most kits include a perfectly paired essential oil to start you off. Add a few drops to the cool sand and let it absorb before lighting. Never add oil while the candle is lit or still warm. Oils are for aromatic use only — keep away from children and pets, and follow the label on each bottle.

Care & safety

Never leave a burning candle unattended. Keep away from children, pets and drafts, and burn on a heat-resistant, level surface. Leave at least 10cm between burning candles. Stop use when the metal wick tab becomes visible.

How long does it burn?

Up to 170+ hours of gentle light, depending on your vessel, wick and how you burn. And because you top up the sand rather than throw a jar away, the same vessel keeps going for as long as you do. Refills from £9.99.

What is candle sand made from?

A pearled, vegetable-oil-based wax. Completely paraffin-free.

Is it scented?

It arrives unscented by design. Add a few drops of essential oil to the cool sand before lighting — and change the scent whenever you like.

Which vessels can I use?

Any heat-safe jar, mug or bowl — thick glass, ceramic or stoneware. Place it on a heat-resistant, level surface, away from drafts.

What if it gets knocked over?

The loose sand disperses and the flame self-extinguishes — no pool of hot wax. Sweep up the unlit pearls and pour them straight back. As with any candle, never leave it burning unattended.
